Work

Two employers since 2011, mostly Java and Spring.

I started in 2011 with an apprenticeship as an application developer at encoway and stayed there until 2020, latterly as lead developer. Since August 2020 I have been at Fincon Reply.

The work is full stack: web applications and their integration into systems that are already there. On top of that come architecture, the analysis of functional and technical requirements, and coordinating the development — and, for some years now, showing others the ropes: team members, developers on the client side, apprentices.

Positions

08.2020 – present

Senior Developer / Lead Developer

Fincon Reply GmbH

Full-stack development of web applications for insurance. Alongside that, planning and building integrations into existing systems, and coordinating the development within the team.

06.2017 – 07.2020

Lead Developer

encoway GmbH

Planning, drawing up and implementing IT architectures, and before that the analysis of functional and technical requirements. Alongside that, work on the software development process and showing developers the ropes — in my own team and at the client.

01.2014 – 06.2017

Software Developer

encoway GmbH

Development in client projects: configuration and quotation systems, document generation, integration into the systems already running there.

08.2011 – 01.2014

Fachinformatiker Anwendungsentwicklung

encoway GmbH

Two and a half years of dual training, at the company and at vocational school. The final project standardised the data structure for the document generation component.

Projects (a selection)

Without client names: the industry says what it was about, and the rest is not mine to give away.

01

Policy administration vendor, insurance

A new module for rating, quotation and application in motor insurance, connected to the policy administration system. The interface is built from Vue.js components and is configurable; the REST endpoints to the policy system sit underneath.

FullStack Developer / Lead Developer
07.2022 – present and 01.2021 – 11.2021
02

International manufacturer of agricultural and municipal machinery

Replacing a web shop. I designed the architecture, including the migration paths for the existing data, introduced new software development processes and agile methods, and coordinated the developers.

Lead Developer
07.2018 – 07.2020
03

Industrial automation group

A configuration platform and its integration into the surrounding systems. Alongside that, process consulting, coordinating the development, and workshops on clean code, unit testing and software development.

Lead Developer
04.2015 – 06.2019
04

CPQ, several manufacturers

Configuration and quotation systems — configure, price, quote — with document generation. I got the developers on the client side to the point where they build their documents themselves. GWT, Java, Freemarker.

Technical Project Lead / Developer
05

Microservices on AWS

A microservice architecture on Docker, and an elaborate continuous integration infrastructure to go with it. The work was done in mixed teams of our own developers and the client's.

Lead Developer

Collective

Monkey Squad

Alongside the employment I am one of three in a software collective. What we do there is on the collective's own site — it is not repeated here.
